OBJECTIVES
1
INTRODUCTORY MATH CLASS
We propose to plan an introductory course in Math (6 CFU, first semester) that allows students from both tracks to arrive prepared for future courses. Coupled with the Research Design course in the second semester, this would equip students with the right tools to approach scientific papers and programming courses
PSYCHOLINGUISTICS FOR LMI
2
Introduce a new course in Psycholinguistics tailored specifically for the LMI track along with the one already existing for the CN track
E-LEARNING IMPROVEMENT
3
AVOID OVERLAPS
This should be avoided both in terms of conflicting time schedule and overlapping course contents
4
Upload online lectures recordings and keep them for the whole academic year; if some courses are taught asynchronously, make sure that the professor sets up at least one online meeting per week in order to catch up with students, answer questions, discuss papers. This shall not affect the final results; one way to cope with this is to make sure that professors evaluate the assignments given during the course and consider them as valid for the final grade
PHOTOCOPIES & ACCESS
CIMeC PROMOTION
5
INTERNSHIPS
Make sure that, especially during the pandemic situation, the internship procedures (internal, external, abroad) get skimmed down, and set up intermediate figures that interact both with students and PIs. This in order for students not to waste time and risk graduating late
6
When students are allowed to access Palazzo dell’Istruzione they should be allowed to use any facility such as photocopy machines, supplied with sanitizers and respecting hygiene regulations
7
BUDDY PROGRAM
8
Create opportunities to share what we teach and learn at CIMeC to other departments at the university and to the general public. Similar to the Zoom conferences that took place this year in spring, but this time instead of only featuring professors, we could also feature students
Improve the existing CIMeC network of students and alumni. Encourage sharing information, skills and good practices. Exchange ideas on how to come up with a project, how to look for an internship, how to find a phd. On a more practical level, create office hours during which first year students can ask questions
9
MINI TALKS FROM STUDENTS
10
STUDENT BONDING ACTIVITIES
Propose a number of online activities to encourage interaction among students. This should be aimed at overcoming the difficulties posed by the current pandemic, which has prevented freshmen from travelling to Rovereto and meeting fellow students
A space where students that are experts in a certain field get to present their work to fellow students. Similar to the kind of opportunities that are already granted to PhD candidates (e.g. BB meetings), but more specifically intended for master students. For example, students could give a mini talk on the work they did in their internship, in their thesis, or in one of their projects
